DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF TREATMENT/DIRECTOR OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELING SERVICES

Description:

This position is responsible for the direction, provision and quality of all residential treatment services, including substance abuse counseling services. This includes planning, development and oversight for facility treatment programs such as psycho-educational classes, therapy groups and community meetings. The Deputy Director also ensures that programs comply with all contracting and licensing agency obligations, the American Corrections Association (ACA) standards, evidence-based practices, and Company policies and procedures.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight of the residential treatment program;
  • Reviews the policies, procedures and activities of the Unit Managers and treatment staff employed by the subcontractor to ensure compliance with contracting agency agreements.
  • Ensures that proper documentation is placed in resident files by subcontracting treatment staff and that documentation conforms to ACA and DMHAS standards;
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with referring agencies as well as community resource agencies;
  • Ensures favorable audit results from funding sources and corrects any deficiencies;
  • Makes recommendations for development of internal training programs;
  • Develops and maintains written objectives, policies and procedures, an organizational plan and a quality assurance program, reviewed by the administrator, for substance abuse counseling services;
  • Ensures that the behavioral approaches to treatment are evidence-based or based on objective information to provide treatment services consistent with recognized treatment principles and practices for each type of client served by the program;
  • Ensures and documents that direct clinical supervision is provided;
  • Assesses and provides staff training;
  • All other responsibilities as listed in DMHAS standards or as assigned by Director.

Qualifications:

Excellent leadership skills. Must meet New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services minimum requirements for this position: (1) a NJ Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, NJ Licensed physician, or licensed advanced practice nurse and (2) A certified clinical supervisor (CCS) or must be eligible for CCS certification in order to apply. Must be qualified to supervise CADC interns. PhD or Master’s Degree in human services, or related fields such as addictions counseling. Five to ten years of experience with at least three years in a supervisory capacity preferred. Excellent public speaker. Good computer skills.
