Summary:

Center For Family Services is seeking a professional and socially and culturally sensitive individual for the Grief Counselor position for the Survivors of Homicide Program.  This program provides emotional support, counseling, and education to guide individuals who are grieving the loss of a loved one by homicide through a process of healing and recovery.

Location: Camden, NJ

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Grief Counselor facilitates safe, supportive, and compassionate programming for children, teens, adults, and families in Camden City and Camden County who are grieving the loss of a loved one by homicide. They provides clinical services using the modalities of individual, group, family counseling and psycho-education. The Counselor will provide mobile services that include the facilitation of resiliency groups at schools and community centers. The Grief Counselor participates in the development of planning sessions and provides post-trauma interventions and educational workshops for individuals in the program. In collaboration with the client, the Grief Counselor develops a service plan that includes long-term goals, short-term objectives, and interventions. The counselor is required to complete all documentation and other grant reporting requirements as well as participate in individual and team supervision.

Requirements: 

  • MSW, or MA in a related human services field
  • Licensed (MFT, LCSW, LPC) preferred or license eligible
  • Knowledge in the area of trauma and loss
  • Current driver's license with a good driving record of at least three years
  • Vehicle with current insurance and registration
