Description

General Description:

Under supervision of Medical Director with broad latitude for independent judgment and initiative, the Staff Physician is an integral part of the medical team at the facility.  He/she is expected to take a leading role in the delivery of health care services to patients.  In addition, he/she is responsible for the supervision of Nurse Practitioners.

Job Requirements:

  • Adheres to approved formulary for therapeutic regimens before utilizing non-formulary procedure. Documents pertinent observations and logical conclusions to validate need for non-formulary medication on non-formulary request form for Medical Director’s approval when non-formulary medication is ordered.
  • Utilizes available in-house resource personnel for treatment or resolution of identified problems before utilizing off-site referral. Provides emergency treatment on-site and responds appropriately in urgent or emergent situations.
  • Demonstrates proper technique for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and AED.
  • Supports standards of medical care through adherence to existing policies and procedures. Serves as a resource to Psychiatrist and LPN providing instructions as needed.
  • Provides general health care to maintain and/or regain the health of those placed in their charge.
  • Performs all routine history and Physical (H&P) examinations in accordance with Policy and Procedure.
  • Orders laboratory studies, x-rays, examinations, and electrocardiograms as appropriate.
  • Prescribes treatment/medications consistent with established protocols.
  • Provides patient education related to health status and treatment regime.
  • Maintains professional boundaries with residents at all times.
  • Follows all requirements for documentation.
  • Required to perform all assigned ACA related duties
  • Required to attend ACA and other assigned mandatory training classes in accordance with Kintock training policies.
  • Annually submits documentation of current licensure and complies with DEA requirements.
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned by the Medical Director.

Experience

Qualifications:
Fully licensed to practice medicine in the state of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Preferably board certified or board eligible in primary care specialty (family practice, internal medicine, or emergency medicine).

Knowledge:
Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
ACA Requirements

Education requirements:
• Must be a graduate of medical school
• Corrections experience preferred
• Must be licensed to practice in the applicable state of employment
• Must have a current DEA
