Please join our Mercer Council on Alcoholism and Drug Addiction (MCADA) professional team!   We are a passionate group that is focused on assisting our Mercer County community with harm reduction.  The MCADA team are all trained and/or certified in evidence-based prevention and early intervention programs.  Our team members come from diverse career backgrounds as teachers, social workers, case managers, public health educators, certified prevention specialists, National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialists,  and/or licensed mental health professionals. Position Title: Program Coordinator/Preventionist of Underage Drinking; Protecting You, Protecting Me (PYPM) Program 

Salary Range: $35,000.00-$40,000.00

Other Perks: This is a full time position with the agency and competitive benefits are provided.  Access to training and/or support to get scholarships due to the nonprofit status. Stipend for maintaining expertise is provided.

History of the Position: Through the funding of DMHAS for the prevention of underage drinking MCADA has been providing this educational alcohol use prevention curriculum for children in grades K-5; this program was originally developed by Mothers Against Drunk Drivers as part of MADD’s National Elementary School Project.  It has been designated a Model Program by SAMHSA, which is a division of the U.S. Department of Health.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates evidenced based substance abuse and violence prevention programs throughout Mercer County.  
  • Responsible for the coordination and design of classroom materials, pre/post tests, teacher packets and follow-up.
  • Implements ATOD and violence prevention activities of agencies, groups and individuals to meet identified needs.
  • Maintains knowledge and develops expertise of existing ATOD and violence prevention resources and services.
  • Interprets needs, programs and services to agencies, groups and individuals involved.
  • Prepares programmatic and statistical reports and disseminates information.
  • Assists in researching and writing proposals to obtain government or private funding for projects designed to meet needs of the community.
  • Maintains consistent office hours to accomplish above.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in public health, psychology, social work, or education
  • Pass background check and fingerprinting 
  • Confidence with using social media, blogging, Microsoft Software, Youtube, Google Workspace

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bilingual candidates will be preferred (Spanish, Polish, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, French).
  • Knowledge or experience working with elementary school age children is desirable.
  • Media specialist, CPS, SAC, teaching certificate desirable.
  • Bicultural and all gender candidates are encouraged to apply. 
  • Knowledge of Mercer County resources and providers is helpful.
