Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and empathetic Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our team. The BHT will play a critical role in supporting clients during their treatment journey by providing supervision, assistance, and encouragement in their recovery efforts. This position includes but is not limited to observing the day-to-day behaviors for all clients, reporting any concerning behaviors to the appropriate parties, providing encouragement and support for clients while they navigate early recovery, promoting 12-step recovery involvement, and ensuring the overall safety and well-being for all clients and staff.
EXPERIENCE:
- One (1) year experience working with substance abuse population preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and support clients during treatment activities and therapy sessions.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of clients by supervising program participation.
- Assist with group facilitation and skill-building activities as directed by clinical staff.
- Document client progress, behaviors, and incidents accurately and promptly.
- Conduct regular wellness checks and monitor compliance with treatment plans.
- Administer drug and alcohol screenings in accordance with facility protocols.
- Provide encouragement and emotional support to clients navigating recovery challenges.
- Communicate effectively with the clinical team regarding client needs and concerns.
- Uphold program policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Experience
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required); additional education in behavioral health or related fields (preferred).
Previous experience in substance abuse treatment, mental health, or a related field (preferred).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
Certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
A commitment to fostering a supportive and structured recovery environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and move frequently throughout shifts.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
License/Certification:
Driver's License w/ no major violation or accident in3 yrs (Required)
5 years driving experience and licensed
