ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
The SAFE Foundation is a nonprofit addiction treatment and prevention organization. We operate State-licensed outpatient drug, alcohol and gambling treatment programs in Brooklyn, New York and Eatontown, New Jersey alongside preventive services and educational programming. Safe’s client-centered and holistic approach includes an emphasis on family involvement.

JOB DESCRIPTION
As a member of the clinical team, Primary Therapists will work under the supervision of the Clinical Director to deliver addiction treatment services to clients ranging from adolescents to adults in both individual, group and family contexts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate individual, group, and family counseling sessions for individuals seeking recovery from addictive disorders and their family members
  • Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments for incoming clients
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and assess client progress
  • Attend all appropriate meetings/supervision sessions and participate in case conferences with the multidisciplinary clinical team
  • Maintain records in compliance with regulations, with special attention to completeness, accuracy, and issues relating to confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Experience

Degree/Certification- must meet one of the following criteria:

· A New Jersey licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor (LCADC)
· A New Jersey certified clinical alcohol and drug counselor (CADC)
· A New Jersey licensed clinical social worker
· A New Jersey licensed professional counselor, or licensed marriage and family therapist
· New Jersey licensed psychologist who possesses a Certification of Proficiency in the Treatment of Alcohol and other Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders from the American Psychological Association, College of Professional Psychology

In addition, candidates should offer the following skills, experience and personal qualities:

· Minimum of 1-2 years of experience providing counseling in an addiction treatment and behavioral health
· Experience running psychoeducation and process groups a plus
· Familiarity with Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral therapies, Person-Centered treatment, and Evidence-Based Practices for the treatment of addictions
· Familiarity with recovery principles such as 12 Step or SMART Recovery
